What Do You Think of Interpol’s New Album? (Poll)

Now that the dust has settled and most of us have had a chance to give the new album a proper listen I was curious as to what people thought. I know that we’ve had some discussion within our forums, but I’m really interested to see what our wider audience thought.

Personally I’m somewhere between liking and loving the album, and will most likely post my own in depth review in the near future. However, for now I’d love to get your opinion.

Pitchfork POV Concert Series

Carlos “really, really didn’t like the bass”

The Guardian has posted a brief article in which Sam Fogarino discusses the reasons behind Carlos’s departure from Interpol. Like many have speculated, Carlos was no big fan of the touring process despite, as the Guardian columnist points out, his reputation for “enjoying” it quite a bit.

However, even more so than being on the road, Sam suggests that Carlos was simply uninterested in his role in the band:

“Carlos really doesn’t like playing the bass guitar,” Fogarino said. “How integral is the bass to Interpol? I mean, it’s huge. It’s a total harmonic component. It’s hook-laden. But he really, really didn’t like the bass. It’s not his instrument of choice, and it definitely wasn’t his first instrument.”

Making of the “Barricade” Video

Anthem Magazine has posted a short article on the making of Interpol’s new music video for the song Barricade off their upcoming fourth album. Details on the treatment were sparse, but it apparently took place in a deserted field in Brooklyn. What’s more, the article comes with a gallery of pictures to confirm it.

According to a David Letterman fansite, Interpol will be the musical guests on the Late Show next Thursday, July 29th. This will be their first television appearance in support of their fourth album. Set your DVRs or drink your coffee!
