SoundCheck Magazine ReviewPosted By: Tom @ 21:21

Wow, this is honestly one of the best reviews that I have ever read. No quips about fashion sense and Interpol's melancholy nature in this one! The review is a belated musical analysis of Our Love to Admire, and really echoes many of my own thoughts concerning the album. It's simply great to see a reviewer with some skill and insight. Of course you'll have to read the review yourself, but this sentence sums it up nicely for me :) :

"But the guitar part of “The Lighthouse” is the most evocative. The crescendo and decrescendo of the guitar reflects the light spinning around to face the vast sea and then retreating back into the distance. The vocals are haunting on this track, adding once again to the album’s overall feeling of desolation and awe in the face of the natural and the manmade."

I'd be interested to see what you guys thought of the review, so please leave a comment.

In other news I would just like to thank all of Interpol Online's loyal readers for continually returning to the website. I know that updates, as well as general news surrounding the band is somewhat sparse these days, but I think that it's important that we continue to support/discuss our favourite artist! My thoughts are already roaming to their 4th album, but in the meantime I'll keep an eye out for any news. Also check back soon for a collection of band wallpapers/forum banners that are being compiled - or if you can't wait check the forum.

Cheers!

- Tom.

Old Video - Interpol, Untitled, 2003.Posted By: Tom @ 20:13

I know that this site is about posting the latest news and content regarding our favourite band, but when I stumbled across this video in the forums I couldn't help but post it for everyone to see! I actually saw the video ages ago, but it still managed to floor me just now. Interpol may these days be tighter on stage, and better rehearsed, but they still rocked just as hard almost 5 years ago!

Enjoy :)

Great news for all you picture whores out there! After the hack several months ago my coder finally managed to fix the images section! All photo albums are back up and working again, so go enjoy!

In other news I have a HUGE number of forum banners and wallpapers that I will be uploading over the next few days, so look out for those (they're really good!).

It's great to have the site functionally correctly again, and expect many more updates now that everything's fixed!

Interpol in Stereogum's 2007 GummysPosted By: Tom @ 19:09

Indie rock news site Stereogum released the results of the "Gummys" their yearly awards based on reader votes. Us Interpol lovers may be pleased to know that the boys came in at number 34 on the Best Albums of the Year list for "Our Love to Admire". Also on the list were close pals Blonde Redhead for "23" while Radiohead's "In Rainbows" took the top spot.

But, this wasn't the only list the boys placed on. Frontman Paul Banks came in at number 26 in the Mr. Indie Rock competition, upstaged by the likes of Win Butler, Jens Lekman, and...Kanye West?
